Election in Sight: A Structured Dialogue

Trainers:

Norma Akamatsu, Clinical Social Worker focused on reconciliation in families and communities; and Gail Perlman, retired mediator and conflict resolution facilitator. Both are members of Community Conversations of Western Massachusetts, a group focused on strengthening the ability of rivals to have productive conversations in our deeply polarized democracy.

Class Description

The caucuses are almost over. Super Tuesday is behind us. What tensions now underlie the run‐up to the election? What divides us? What do you want to fight for? What are the costs? What hopes propel us forward? We will offer a dialogue format to promote understanding of our varied perspectives by exploring the values and experiences that have influenced us. Based on this understanding, we will consider ways to go forward individually and collectively.
