Engaging in Difficult Dialogues: An Essential Leadership Skill

In political environments differences of opinion are inevitable and important. Yet too often, differences are inadequately explored. Even more frequently, different perspectives often lead to anger, hurt, and sometimes violence. This class will explore the benefits of dialogue across difference. We will distinguish debate from dialogue, discuss the components of successful dialogues, and describe some of dialogue’s positive results. Finally, we will engage in the practice of constructive dialogue and reflect on what we learn from that experience.
