Community Care: Needed Now More Than Ever
As author and poet Yolo Akili says, "Oppression thrives off isolation. Connection is the only thing that can save us." Join us for conversations about ways to care for ourselves and each other in this political climate. Community care can be as simple as picking up the phone to call someone or stopping by to check in on each other and offer practical help. It can also be larger scale and organized mutual aid efforts and creating broader networks of support. As the most vulnerable among us are losing vital safety nets, we as a community need to step in and help. What are the community care practices that will heal and restore us, help us to hold onto our faith and hope, and remind us that we are loved, valued, and not alone. We are stronger together. We can get through these times together. The key is to create beloved community and take care of each other. Let's talk about ways we can do this.
