Protest First Aid 101 covers all the basic information you need as a civilian to be prepared to help with various medical events that may come up during a protest or demonstration. You will learn how to respond to common medical emergencies (including seizures, fainting, extreme weather/exposure injuries, and mental health emergencies), basic bleeding control, how to treat injuries from chemical weapons (pepper spray, tear gas, and mace), what to carry in your protest first aid kit, and more. The class is taught by two medics for Street Medics Austin, a nonpartisan 501c3 out of Austin, Texas, who provide protest first aid, unhoused outreach, and community trainings such as this one.
