In this course we will unpack ways we as adults can empower our youth to interrupt unjust social systems and practices that attempt to silence their voices. This work will be accomplished by identifying systemic issues that impact youth at a Macro level (in the United States) and at a Micro level (in various regions across the United States).

Session 1: Thursday, February 9^th: Introduction, class norms, course overview, identifying systemic issues that impact youth at a Macro level in the United States and at a Micro level in various regions across the United States. We will use breakout rooms to get to know each other better and talk about our goals for the class. We will then take a deeper dive, identifying Macro and Micro trends. Participants will be encouraged to prepare questions for the student guest panelists for the second session.

Session 2: Thursday, March 9^th: Participants will re-introduce themselves and head to breakout rooms in which they will focus on questions such as, What do you see as major SJ issues in our society; What should adults know about how these social injustices impact young people? What shifts should take place? What shifts would young people like to see and what can adults do to help? Groups will end back together to discuss how participants feel they can make an impact moving forward and to come up with an action plan.
